Artist Work Analysis

Just by examining this catus-like model made by Swallow, it can be deduced that the main material used in his model would be soft clay. First, the whole model is white in color, which suggests materials like concrete/paper, but when examining the model more closely, it can be found out that the parts of the model were stuck together by force, where the material seemed compressed, this suggests that a soft material was used and soft clay would be the best guess. This model was probably fragmented in the start, which Swallow made the seperate pieces of the catus one by one, the pattern on the clay suggests printing using a solid object. Later on, the parts are assembled by compressing on each other and thus the model is finished.

This is an artwork of a bird which is drawn by Nolan. The paper used was probably thick and rough, because the picture doesnt exhibit any reflective properties. By examining the sharpness of the colors used, it is pretty reasonable to suggest that watercolor paint was used. Although this is just a drawing, the artwork hints the reader the sequence which each element was drawn. Nolan probably drawn the bird first before painting the background, as the areas around the bird's claws have a small area of white paint. The area near the neck also suggests that part of the neck was covered by blue paint, and that was probably how this drawing was made.
